Our team has significant experience (20+ years) with oilfield services, including workover operations, completion operations, production operations, project management, as well as all construction, maintenance and testing capabilities.

We have multiple processes in place that are focused on our team’s continuous improvement in safety, training, and customer satisfaction.

Our Leadership

Ronnie Kamper
CEO

Ronnie started up Thunderbird Field Services in the last quarter of 2016, in an effort to provide high quality and dependable services for the oil and gas sector. With over 30 years experience in the oilfield industry, ranging from Deepwater production facility design, startup, and operations, through well completions, intervention, and work over operations, Ronnie has developed a unique capacity to safely provide client focused solutions at premium efficiencies. 

Through his leadership, vision, and delivery driven philosophy, Thunderbird Field Services has grown into a one-stop-shop for all your field service needs. 

 

Ronnie enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, and supporting his church families and assorted ministries. Hunting, fishing, and skiing are some of his personal favorites for those times when he is able to break away from work.

Henry Link
CFO

A strategic partner of Thunderbird Field Services, LLC since 2017, Henry Link joined the leadership team as Chief Financial Officer in 2019. With a Master of Professional Accounting Degree, Henry has nearly 15 years experience serving as a CEO and CFO in the oil & gas industry. 

Henry also currently serves as President of the Executive Board of Directors of Still Creek Ranch, a non-profit school and home for children in crisis. He and his wife Donna have been a part of Still Creek Ranch at all levels of leadership since 1994. 

While serving as a 4-H county club manager, Henry enjoys training horses, hunting, fishing, and snow skiing with Donna and their three children.

John Griffin
Director, Business Development

John joined the Thunderbird leadership team in 2019 as Chief Operating Officer. John has over 20 years of experience in global deepwater oil and gas services, leading engineering, operations, and executive teams. Most recently, John was Vice President of Automated Intervention Services for TechnipFMC, and previous to that was President and Managing Director of FTO Services, a subsea services and well intervention company. While working at FTO, John met and worked closely with Thunderbird owner, Ronnie Kamper.

 

John is a past chairman of the Deepwater Intervention Forum, and enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife and three daughters, training horses, and coaching youth basketball.

Dalton Kamper
GM, Oil & Gas, Construction, and Forestry

Dalton has been a part of Thunderbird Field Services since start up, but fully came on board after graduating from Mississippi State University in 2018. In the early years of Thunderbird, Dalton worked in the field participating in day to day operations, as well as managing all accounts receivables and payables. He now serves as the General Manager over the Oil & Gas Construction division, as well as our Forestry Division.

 

While not working, Dalton enjoys spending time with friends and family. His next favorite hobbies include hunting and skiing.

Phillip Shumake
GM, Alaska Oil & Gas

Born and raised in the Permian Basin of West Texas, Phillip has worked in all phases of the industry from workovers and completions to production.

Phillip has supervised operations ranging from deep-water completions, workovers, high-pressure high temp snubbing operations in the modern shale industry, to workovers and completions on the north slope of Alaska.

Phillip brings over 35 years of experience to the Thunderbird Team.

Jerry Woodall
Safety Manager

Jerry has more than 21 years of experience in Occupational Safety and Health Management in the Oil and Gas industry.

 

His experience ranges from workover-completion rigs, coil tubing, hot oil, and pump trucks. He is committed to providing a safe and healthful workplace.

Jerry’s area of responsibility includes compliance with all State and Federal regulations relating to Occupational Safety and Health.

Jerry provides leadership, training, information, resources, policy development and works with all company employees and departments.

When not working he spends his time with family and friends and he enjoys hunting, fishing, and shooting sports.

Chris Dowden
Forestry Services

Chris has been married for 25 years to wife, Joy, and has two daughters, Victoria and Georgia.
 

1995 Graduate of Northwestern State University.


Chris has been involved in Forestry for almost 20 years.


Member of Westside Baptist Church and his hobbies include hunting, tournament fishing and
cattle ranching.

Darren Vaught
Coil Tubing & Downhole Tool Rentals

Darren joined Thunderbird Field Services in Dec 2020 embracing the TFS vision and the mindset of expansion through Customer Service. With 20+ years of dedication to the industry in exploration, construction, capillary, coil tubing, in locations all around the world including assignments in the Domestic US, GOM Shelf and Deepwater, Cooper Basin Australia, APR South China Sea. 

Darren is no stranger to the necessary dedication needed to build and expand in the Oil and Gas Industry.  Darren is a results-based leader with high expectations in work ethics, honesty, and integrity.

 

On a personal level, Darren is family-oriented, a Child of Christ that loves spending time with his wife Tammy, kids, and grandkids doing various outdoor activities.

Trent Vaught
Coil Tubing & Downhole Tool Rentals

Trent joined Thunderbird Field services in January 2021. His dedication to the industry has included positions in Exploration, Coil tubing, Capillary, and fiber optic technologies in locations in the Domestic US as well as Cooper Basin Australia.

 

His vision of results-based customer service, safety, and knowledge of the industry have accelerated him into various Field Supervisory and Management positions.

He enjoys water sports, hunting, fishing, snowboarding, and networking with friends when away from work.

Tim Parker
Workover Rig Manager

Tim began working in the oilfield in1975 and worked through many positions from Floor Hand on a Pulling Unit through Derrick Man and into the Operator position.
He started Supervising Rigs in 1985 before a 4-year stint as Personnel/Safety Representative before moving into Management positions. 
 
Prior to TFS Tim worked as Regional Manager in West Texas and spent 13 years with Forbes Energy Services and prior to Forbes he spent 32 years with Pool Company/Nabors Well Servicing. 
 
Tim worked in areas from Hobbs, New Mexico and Mineral Wells, Abilene, Winters, Hamlin, Knox City, Pearsall, Monahans, and Odessa, Texas. 
 
Tim resides in Odessa, TX with his wife of 45 years and enjoys travelling and visiting his kids and grandchildren as much as he can.

Adan Flores III
Workover Rig Manager

Adan Loya Flores III and I broke into the Oil Field business in 1994 at the age of 18 years old.  
I began my career in the field as a swampier on a pole truck for about 1 year and then got hired on with Pool Well Service and worked my way up from a floor hand to a Derrick man and then an Operator in a 5-year period. 


In the year 2000, I continued to work as an operator with Pool Well Services until 2005.  
I then got hired on with Basic Energy Services as a driller. I continued to work as a driller until 2008 when I then became a Rig Supervisor on a 24-hour rig at the ages of 33.   


In 2009 I came on board with CC Forbes Energy Services as an operator for about a 2-year period and then pushed tools on a 24 rig until the year 2020.  
In my time in the Oil Field, I have worked in many parts around Texas and Louisiana.  
I am from Kingsville, Texas and on my free time I enjoy taking my son on deep sea fishing trips, and most of all, my wife and I enjoy our Las Vegas trips.
